Description:
At 642 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm was located over Kansas City, or
near Edwardsville, moving northeast at 40 mph.
THIS IS A DESTRUCTIVE STORM FOR WYANDOTTE AND PLATTE COUNTIES.
HAZARD...Three inch hail and 60 mph wind gusts.
SOURCE...Trained weather spotters. There have been several reports
of baseball to 3.5 inch hail in the Lake Waukomis,
Parkville, and Platte Woods areas.
IMPACT...People and animals outdoors will be severely injured.
Expect shattered windows, extensive damage to roofs,
siding, and vehicles.

Kansas City, Overland Park, Independence, Shawnee, Lenexa, Liberty,
Gladstone, Merriam, Mission, Smithville, Bonner Springs, De Soto,
Parkville, Edwardsville, North Kansas City, Fairway, Mission Hills,
Sugar Creek, Riverside, and Weatherby Lake.
This includes the following highways...
Interstate 70 in Missouri between mile markers 0 and 8.
Interstate 70 in Kansas between mile markers 410 and 423.
Interstate 35 in Missouri between mile markers 0 and 18.
Interstate 35 in Kansas between mile markers 228 and 235.
Interstate 29 between mile markers 0 and 10.
Interstate 635 between mile markers 0 and 12.
Interstate 435 between mile markers 4 and 21, and between mile
markers 38 and 62.
Kansas Turnpike between mile markers 220 and 226.
Instruction:
A Tornado Watch remains in effect until midnight CDT for northeastern
and east central Kansas...and west central Missouri.
Remain alert for a possible tornado! Tornadoes can develop quickly
from severe thunderstorms. If you spot a tornado go at once into the
basement or small central room in a sturdy structure.
For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a
building.
This is a dangerous storm. Prepare immediately for large destructive
hail capable of producing significant damage. People outside should
move to a shelter, inside a strong building and away from windows.
