* At 953 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm was located over Granger, or
near Grimes, moving east at 35 mph.
HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect wind damage
to roofs, siding, and trees.

Des Moines, Ames, Ankeny, Urbandale, Johnston, Clive, Altoona,
Waukee, Grimes, Perry, Nevada, Bondurant, Polk City, Huxley,
Saylorville, Madrid, Mitchellville, Colfax, Dallas Center, and
Slater.
This includes the following highways...
Interstate 35 between mile markers 87 and 112.
Interstate 80 between mile markers 127 and 133, and between mile
markers 137 and 163.
Instruction:
For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a
building.
Large hail, damaging wind, and continuous cloud to ground lightning
are occurring with this storm. Move indoors immediately. Lightning is
one of nature's leading killers. Remember, if you can hear thunder,
you are close enough to be struck by lightning.
