Description:
At 947 AM CDT, a severe thunderstorm was located over Cedar Valley,
or near West Branch, moving northeast at 55 mph.
HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail.
SOURCE...Trained weather spotters.
IMPACT...Hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect wind damage to
roofs, siding, and trees.
Locations impacted include...
Tipton, West Branch, Stanwood, Lowden, Bennett, Rochester, Buchanan,
Clarence, Springdale, Cedar Valley, Massillon Park, Cedar Bluff,
Bennett Park, Cedar Valley Park, Herbert Hoover National Historic
Site, Tipton Matthews Airport, and Cedar County Fairgrounds.
This includes Interstate 80 in Iowa between mile markers 254 and 264.
Instruction:
For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a
sturdy building.
Continuous cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm.
Move indoors immediately. Lightning is one of nature's leading
killers. Remember, if you can hear thunder, you are close enough to
be struck by lightning.
