At 638 PM CDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line extending from Wamac to 6 miles northwest of Tamaroa, moving east at 35 mph. HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Expect damage to roofs, siding, and trees. Locations impacted include... Mount Vernon, Woodlawn, and Dix. This includes the following highways... Interstate 57 in Illinois between Mile Markers 98 and 105. Interstate 64 in Illinois between Mile Markers 63 and 72.

A Tornado Watch remains in effect until 1100 PM CDT for south central Illinois. Remain alert for a possible tornado! Tornadoes can develop quickly from severe thunderstorms. If you spot a tornado go at once into the basement or small central room in a sturdy structure. For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building.
