At 546 AM CDT, a severe thunderstorm was located near Woodlawn, or 8 miles northwest of Mount Vernon, moving east at 55 mph. HAZARD...70 mph wind gusts. SOURCE...Radar indicated. This storm has also produced a 65 mph wind gust in Salem, IL. IMPACT...Expect considerable tree damage. Damage is likely to mobile homes, roofs, and outbuildings. Locations impacted include... Mount Vernon and Dix. This includes the following highways... Interstate 57 in Illinois between Mile Markers 98 and 105. Interstate 64 in Illinois between Mile Markers 63 and 71.

A Tornado Watch remains in effect until 1100 AM CDT for south central Illinois. Remain alert for a possible tornado! Tornadoes can develop quickly from severe thunderstorms.
