...RED FLAG WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT TODAY UNTIL 6 PM MST EAST
OF THE CENTRAL MOUNTAIN CHAIN DUE TO STRONG WIND AND LOW
HUMIDITY...
...FIRE WEATHER WATCH SUNDAY FROM NOON UNTIL 9 PM FOR THE
NORTHEAST HIGHLANDS AND EASTERN PLAINS DUE TO STRONG WIND AND LOW
HUMIDITY.
.Critical fire weather conditions will continue until 6 PM MST
today east of the central mountain chain. West and northwest wind
gusts up to 50 mph will be common until 4 PM MST, then up to 40
mph as late as 6 PM MST. Humidities will bottom out in the single
digits and low teens this afternoon. On Sunday, a surface trough
in the lee of the southern Rockies, and ample atmospheric mixing
with high temperatures around 8 to 13 degrees above 30-year
averages, will produce southwest wind gusts up to 45 mph while
humidities again drop into the single digits and low teens. There
is a roughly 30 percent chance that critical fire weather
conditions will return to northeast and east central areas on
Monday.
* AREA AND TIMING...This includes the Central Highlands (Zone 125)
until 6 PM MST today.
* 20 FOOT WINDS...West winds 20 to 35 mph with gusts up to 50.
* RELATIVE HUMIDITY...Minimum values between 12 to 16 percent.
* IMPACTS...Any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly.
Outdoor burning is not recommended.
