Description:
At 137 AM CDT, Doppler radar indicated that heavy rains have ended
across northern Cherokee County, but between 3 and 5 inches of rain
have fallen. Flash flooding is already occurring. Trained spotters
reported multiple roadways near downtown Tahlequah under at least 4
inches of water.
HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.

IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas,
highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor
drainage and low-lying areas.

Instruction:
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.
