This local statement provides important information and recommended actions for people in Guam and the Northern Marianas. .WATCHES/WARNINGS... A Typhoon Warning remains in effect for Rota, Tinian, and Saipan. A Tropical Storm Warning and Typhoon Watch remain in effect for Guam. A Tropical Storm Warning remains in effect for Pagan and Alamagan. A Tropical Storm Watch remains in effect for Agrihan. A Flood Watch is in effect for all of Guam and the Northern Marianas. Please listen closely for any Flash Flood Warnings that might be in effect for your area. Please check the latest public and marine forecasts for detailed information about additional hazards. .STORM INFORMATION... At 3 AM ChST...the center of Super Typhoon Sinlaku (04W) was located near latitude 13.5N...longitude 147.1E. This was about 155 miles east of Guam. Storm motion was northwest, 320 degrees, at 7 mph. Storm intensity was 175 mph. .SITUATION OVERVIEW... Super Typhoon Sinlaku (04W) is moving northwest toward the Marianas, with rain bands of Sinlaku rotating in over the islands, and continuing to bring periods of heavy showers, thunderstorms, and strong winds. The most recent storm track produced by the Joint Typhoon Warning Center (JTWC) has shifted slightly south but continues to have the the center of Sinlaku passing near or over Tinian and Saipan. While Sinlaku is forecasted to gradually weaken the next few days, it is expected to cross the Marianas near or over Tinian and Saipan as a Category 4 or 5 typhoon.
Instruction: 
People should be in a designated shelter or in a sturdy and reinforced concrete building to ride out the storm as tropical storm force winds are occurring and will be increasing through the day. Due to the size of the storm, tropical storm force winds are expected to continue through Wednesday night and into Thursday morning for Rota and Thursday evening for Tinian and Saipan. While recent forecast tracks continue to favor the center of Sinlaku passing near or over Tinian and Saipan. Typhoon force winds of 74 mph or greater are still possible for Rota late today and tonight. Tinian and Saipan should prepare for the potential for extensive damage, especially to non- concrete roofs and building. If staying in a home, turn the refrigerator to maximum cold and keep it closed. Turn off propane tanks and unplug small appliances. Fill the bathtub with water in case the tap water becomes unavailable after the storm. This is for cleaning and flushing purposes. Do not drink it.
