Description:
* WHAT...For the Coastal Flood Warning, significant coastal flooding.
For the High Surf Warning, dangerously large breaking waves of 16
to 20 feet. For the Coastal Flood Advisory, minor coastal flooding
expected. For the High Surf Advisory, large breaking waves of 9 to
11 feet expected. For the High Rip Current Risk, dangerous rip
currents.
* WHERE...South, west and north faing reefs and shorelines of Tinian
and Saipan.
* WHEN...For the Coastal Flood Warning, until noon ChST Friday. For
the High Surf Warning, until 5 PM ChST Friday. For the Coastal
Flood Advisory, from noon Friday to 5 PM ChST Saturday. For the
High Surf Advisory, from 5 PM Friday to 5 PM ChST Saturday. For
the High Rip Current Risk, through Saturday afternoon.
* IMPACTS...Numerous roads may be closed. Low lying property
including homes, businesses, and some critical infrastructure will
be inundated. Some shoreline erosion will occur. Breaking waves can
sweep people off jetties and docks, and into dangerous seas. Life-
threatening swimming conditions and significant beach erosion can
be expected. Rip currents can sweep even the best swimmers away
from shore into deeper water.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...As TY Sinlaku continues to move away and wind
driven waves decrease, the primary swell and highest surf will
become southwest. Seas will be slow to subside over the next couple
of days.
Instruction:
Everyone should remain out of the water due to life-threatening
surf conditions. Stay off of jetties, piers, and other waterside
infrastructure.
Rip currents will be life threatening. If caught in a rip
current, relax and float. Don't swim against the current. If
able, swim in a direction following the shoreline. If unable to
escape, face the shore and call or wave for help.
