...RED FLAG WARNING TODAY FOR WESTERN AND MOST OF CENTRAL NORTH DAKOTA, INCLUDING THE JAMES RIVER VALLEY... .Critical fire weather conditions are expected today across western and most of central North Dakota, including the James River Valley. Southerly winds of 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 45 mph will shift to the northwest in the afternoon and evening, initially in western and then central North Dakota. Relative humidity values will drop to as low as 15 percent. There is a low chance for isolated showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon and early evening over parts of western and central North Dakota, which could cause stronger erratic wind gusts. Any fires that ignite could spread rapidly and become difficult to control. Critical fire weather conditions are likely again Tuesday, especially across central North Dakota. The National Weather Service in Bismarck has issued a Red Flag Warning for wind and low relative humidity, which is in effect from 11 AM this morning to 10 PM CDT this evening. * WINDS...South 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 45 mph. * RELATIVE HUMIDITY...As low as 25 percent. * AFFECTED AREA...Pierce, Wells, Foster, and Stutsman counties. * IMPACTS...Any fires that ignite will spread rapidly and become difficult to control or suppress.
