Description:
At 901 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm near
Rocky Mount. This thunderstorm was nearly stationary.
HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 40 mph, half inch hail, and heavy rainfall.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is
possible.
Locations impacted include...
Rocky Mount, Nashville, Dortches, Red Oak, Sharpsburg, Whitakers,
Leggett, and Battleboro.
This includes Interstate 95 between Mile Markers 145 and 138.
Instruction:
If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building.
Very heavy rain can be expected due to the slow movement of this
storm. Prolonged heavy rain will result in ponding of water on
roadways, standing water in low lying areas, and minor flooding of
creeks and streams. Drivers are urged to slow down and use extra
caution to avoid hydroplaning.
