Description:
At 430 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a cluster of strong
thunderstorms 8 miles northeast of Dortches, or 9 miles northeast of
Rocky Mount, moving east at 15 mph.
HAZARD...Wind gusts in excess of 30 mph.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
unsecured objects.
Locations impacted include...
Rocky Mount, Scotland Neck, Dortches, Red Oak, Enfield, Whitakers,
Hobgood, Speed, Leggett, and Glenview.
This includes Interstate 95 between Mile Markers 154 and 138.
Instruction:
If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building.
Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm.
Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe
shelter inside a building or vehicle.
