Description:
At 415 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm 10
miles west of Huntersville, or 5 miles northeast of Stanley, moving
south at 20 mph.
HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 40 mph and pea size hail.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to outdoor objects is
possible.
Locations impacted include...
Huntersville, Mt Holly, Stanley, Mcadenville, Paw Creek, Iron
Station, Northwest Charlotte, Belmont, Lowell, and Cramerton.
Instruction:
If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building.
This storm may intensify, so be certain to monitor local radio
stations and available television stations for additional information
and possible warnings from the National Weather Service.
If on or near Mountain Island Lake and the southern end of Lake
Norman, get out of the water and move indoors or inside a vehicle.
Remember, lightning can strike out to 10 miles from the parent
thunderstorm. If you can hear thunder, you are close enough to be
struck by lightning. Move to safe shelter now! Do not be caught on
the water in a thunderstorm.
