Description: 
At 822 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a thunderstorm with torrential rainfall 10 miles southeast of Morganton, or 5 miles northeast of South Mountains State Park, moving northeast at 50 mph. Locations to be impacted include... Hickory, Forest City, Rutherfordton, Taylorsville, Morganton, Lenoir, St. Stephens, Longview, Sawmills, and Granite Falls. Extreme rainfall rates in excess of 3 inches per hour will be possible in these areas.
Instruction: 
Torrential rainfall may flood areas with poor drainage, such as ditches and underpasses. Avoid these areas and do not cross flooded roads. Water levels of small streams may also rise rapidly. Seek higher ground if threatened by flood waters.
