* WHAT...Urban and small stream flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues. * WHERE...Portions of southeastern Mecklenburg and northwest Union Counties in North Carolina. * WHEN...Until 1215 PM EDT. * IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Water is over roadways in some instances. River or stream flows are elevated. Ponding of water in urban or other areas is occurring or is imminent. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 1123 AM EDT, Members of the public have indicated minor flooding in backyards and deep ponding on streets in and around Stallings. Automated stream gauges indicated Goose Creek at Mill Grove Road, near Indian Trail, was out of its banks and still rising slowly following heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Irvins Creek at Sam Newell Rd, in eastern Mecklenburg County, also is cresting near bankfull stage. Each of these is expected to cause minor flooding on nearby roads. Between 2 and 4 inches of rain have fallen since early this morning. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Monroe, Southeast Charlotte, Matthews, Stallings, Mint Hill, Indian Trail, Weddington, Unionville, Pineville, Wesley Chapel, Waxhaw, Lake Park, Hemby Bridge, Marvin, Fairview, and The Arboretum. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood
