* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues. * WHERE...A portion of northwest North Carolina, including the following counties, Watauga and Wilkes. * WHEN...Until 600 PM EDT. * IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 427 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated the heavy rain which prompted the advisory has exited the region, with only light scattered rain showers continuing. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the advisory area. Between 2 and 4 inches of rain have fallen. - This includes the following streams and drainages... Stony Fork, Elk Creek, Dugger Creek, Flat Branch, Yadkin River, Beaver Creek and Little Dugger Creek. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Darby... In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded roads. Find an alternate route.
