Description:
* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues.
* WHERE...Portions of piedmont and western North Carolina, including
the following counties, in piedmont North Carolina, Catawba and
Cleveland. In western North Carolina, Burke, McDowell and
Rutherford.
* WHEN...Until 1215 AM EDT.
* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.
Water over roadways.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 921 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin
shortly in the advisory area. Between 2 and 3 inches of rain
have fallen.
- Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Hickory, Morganton, St. Stephens, Longview, Valdese, Salem,
Icard, Drexel, Hildebran, Connelly Springs, Rutherford
College, Glen Alpine, Rhodhiss, South Mountains State Park,
Lake Rhodhiss, Hickory Regional Airport, Lake Hickory,
Pleasant Grove, Dysartsville and Northlakes.

When it is safe to do so, please report flooding or landslides
threatening roads or property to the National Weather Service
Greenville-Spartanburg by calling toll free, 1, 800, 2 6 7, 8 1 0 1,
by posting on our Facebook page, or via X using hashtag NWSGSP. Your
message should describe the specific location where impacts occurred
and the depth of flooding observed.
Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.
Flooding is occurring or is imminent. It is important to know where
you are relative to streams, rivers, or creeks which can become
killers in heavy rains. Campers and hikers should avoid streams or
creeks.
