Description: 
At 657 PM MDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm near Santa Rosa Lake State Park, or 6 miles northeast of Santa Rosa, moving west at 15 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 50 mph and nickel size hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor damage to outdoor objects is possible. Locations impacted include... Santa Rosa and Santa Rosa Lake State Park. This includes Interstate 40 between Mile Markers 267 and 286.
Instruction: 
Monitor the weather situation closely and be alert for threatening weather conditions. If on or near Santa Rosa Lake, get out of the water and move indoors or inside a vehicle. Remember, lightning can strike out to 10 miles from the parent thunderstorm. If you can hear thunder, you are close enough to be struck by lightning. Move to safe shelter now! Do not be caught on the water in a thunderstorm. Motorists can expect brief but sudden changes in visibility and ponding of water on roadways as storms move through the area.
