Northwestern Guadalupe County in east central New Mexico... * Until 1030 PM MDT. * At 948 PM MDT, a severe thunderstorm was located 20 miles southwest of Anton Chico, or 24 miles north of Vaughn, moving east at 20 mph. HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect wind damage to roofs, siding, and trees. * Locations impacted include... Milagro and Pintada. This includes Interstate 40 between Mile Markers 235 and 255.

Seek shelter inside a well-built structure and stay away from windows. This storm is capable of producing damaging winds and large hail. Continuous cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm. Lightning is one of nature's leading killers. Remember, if you can hear thunder, you are close enough to be struck by lightning. Motorists can expect brief but sudden changes in visibility and ponding of water on roadways as storms move through the area.
