STRONG WINDS AND LOW RELATIVE HUMIDITY FOR THE WEST CENTRAL MOUNTAINS

.Strong southwest winds with low humidity, hot temperatures, and deep
mixing will increase the risk for rapid fire spread over far west
central New Mexico, including Gallup, Monday before expanding to much
of northwest and west-central NM Tuesday. Any dry lightning strikes
that occur over west central New Mexico Monday may result in fire
starts that rapidly spread Tuesday.
The National Weather Service in Albuquerque NM has issued a Red Flag
Warning in effect from noon to 9 PM MDT Tuesday, and a Red Flag
Warning in effect from noon to 9 PM MDT Monday.
* AFFECTED AREA...West Central Mountains (Zone 105).
* TIMING...For the first Red Flag Warning, from noon to 9 PM MDT
Monday. For the second Red Flag Warning, from noon to 9 PM MDT
Tuesday.
* 20 FOOT WINDS...For the first Red Flag Warning, southwest winds 20
to 25 mph with gusts up to 40 mph across far west central New
Mexico, including Gallup. For the second Red Flag Warning,
southwest winds 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 45 mph.
* RELATIVE HUMIDITY...For the first Red Flag Warning, minimum
relative humidity values between 7 to 15 percent, and for the
second Red Flag Warning, minimum relative humidity values between 6
to 15 percent.
* IMPACTS...Any fires that develop will spread rapidly. Outdoor
burning is not recommended.
