...FIRE WEATHER WATCH IN EFFECT FROM SATURDAY AFTERNOON THROUGH
SATURDAY EVENING FOR EASTERN NEW MEXICO DUE TO STRONG WIND AND
LOW HUMIDITY...
On Saturday, west winds strengthen again with occasional gusts of
35 to near 40 mph forecast over much of eastern New Mexico. In
addition, humidity will fall as low as 8 to 15 percent, resulting
in another round of critical fire weather across portions of eastern
New Mexico. Locally critical fire weather may be observed outside
of the watch area.
* AREA AND TIMING...The Northeast and East Central Plains (Zones
104 and 126); Northeast and Central Highlands (Zones 123 and
125). For Saturday from noon to 8 PM MDT.
* 20 FOOT WINDS...West winds 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 40 mph
Saturday afternoon.
* RELATIVE HUMIDITY...Minimum values of 8 to 15 percent.
* IMPACTS...Any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly.
Outdoor burning is not recommended.
