Event:
Flash Flood Warning
Urgency:
Immediate
Effective:
June 8, 2026 - 4:18pm
Expires:
June 8, 2026 - 8:15pm
Description:
At 618 PM CDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated that thunderstorms dumped as much as 2-4 inches of heavy rain across much of the Warning area earlier this afternoon. Flash flooding is already occurring in some places as a result. Fortunately, rain is no longer falling in the area, and no additional rain is expected until possibly after 11 PM this evening, which if it occurs should not be nearly as heavy as what already fell. In the meantime, at least minor flooding and perhaps localized flash flooding will persist within the Warning area for several more hours until extensive runoff from earlier rain subsides. HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by earlier thunderstorms. SOURCE...Radar and automated gauges. IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas. Some locations that could experience flash flooding include... Beaver City, Wilsonville, Hendley and Hollinger. This includes the following streams and drainages... Sappa Creek, Timmons Creek, Republican River, Crum Creek, Honey Creek and Beaver Creek.
Instruction:
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Please report observed flooding to local emergency services or law enforcement and request they pass this information to the National Weather Service when you can do so safely.
