Northwestern St. Clair County in west central Missouri... * Until 430 PM CDT. * At 339 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm was located 9 miles southeast of Appleton City, or 14 miles north of El Dorado Springs, moving north at 40 mph. HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Expect damage to roofs, siding, and trees. * Locations impacted include... Appleton City, Lowry City, Roscoe, Taberville, Monegaw Springs, and Johnson City.

Remain alert for a possible tornado! Tornadoes can develop quickly from severe thunderstorms. If you spot a tornado go at once into the basement or small central room in a sturdy structure. For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building. If on or near Truman Lake, get away from the water and move indoors or inside a vehicle. Remember, lightning can strike out to 15 miles from the parent thunderstorm. If you can hear thunder, you are close enough to be struck by lightning. Move to safe shelter now! Do not be caught on the water in a thunderstorm. A Tornado Watch remains in effect until 700 PM CDT for west central Missouri.
