following rivers in Missouri...
Moreau River near Jefferson City.
River forecasts are based on observed precipitation and forecast
precipitation for the next 24 hours.
* WHAT...Major flooding is occurring and major flooding is forecast.
* WHERE...Moreau River near Jefferson City.
* WHEN...Until late Wednesday night.
* IMPACTS...At 29.3 feet, Water level reaches the low steel of the
Tanner Bridge.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 12:30 AM CDT Tuesday the stage was 29.1 feet.
- Recent Activity...The maximum river stage in the 24 hours ending
at 12:30 AM CDT Tuesday was 29.1 feet.
- Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 29.1 feet
this morning. It will then fall below flood stage late this
evening.
- Flood stage is 17.0 feet.
- Flood History...This crest compares to a previous crest of 29.0
feet on 07/08/1993.
Instruction:
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.
Rainfall heavier than forecast could cause river levels to rise even
higher than predicted. The National Weather Service will monitor this

change.
