Description:
At 745 PM CDT, Emergency management reported flash flooding in
Meridian. Several roads are flooded causing cars to become stranded
with one residence taking on water. Between 2 and 4 inches of rain
have fallen. Even though no additional rainfall is expected,
emergency management is reporting water levels continue to rise and
flooding impacts have continued to worsen.
HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Heavy rain producing
flash flooding.
SOURCE...Emergency management reported.
IMPACT...Life threatening flash flooding of creeks and streams,
urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses.
Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
Meridian, Collinsville, Marion, Nellieburg, Toomsuba, Zero, Savoy,
Causeyville, Suqualena, Alamucha, Meehan and Kewanee.
Instruction:
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.
Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.
