Special Weather Statement
Urgency:
Expected
Effective:
May 9, 2026 - 4:25am
Expires:
May 9, 2026 - 5:00pm
Description:
Another elevated fire weather day is expected across the area that
has yet to fully begin their growing season from western to
central Minnesota. Winds are expected to increase during the
daylight hours, with sustained winds increasing to 15-20mph with
gusts as high as 30mph out of the northwest. As winds increase,
temperatures will warm into the low 60s, allowing relative
humidity to fall into the low to mid 20 percent range this
afternoon. The combination of the relative humidity and winds will
lead to the elevated conditions, however peak wind gust strength
should stay below Red Flag criteria.
Check burning restrictions and fire danger levels and consult
with fire officials before burning.
For more information on burning restrictions for Minnesota, see
www.dnr.state.mn.us/forestry/fire/firerating_restrictions.html.
