Description:
At 1237 AM CDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line
extending from near Rutland to near Claire City to near Marvin to
near Kranzburg, moving northeast at 55 mph.
HAZARD...70 mph wind gusts.
SOURCE...Trained weather spotters. At 1233 AM CDT, a trained spotter
observed 70 mph thunderstorm wind gusts at Lake Poinsett.
IMPACT...Expect considerable tree damage. Damage is likely to mobile
homes, roofs, and outbuildings.
Locations impacted include...
Sisseton, Browns Valley, Wilmot, New Effington, South Shore,
Waverly, Kranzburg, Peever, Goodwin, Corona, Milbank, Beardsley,
Strandburg, Bonanza Grove, Yankeetown, Traverse Country Park, La
Bolt, Rainbow Island, Lismore Colony, Revillo and Albee.
Instruction:
Remain alert for a possible tornado! Tornadoes can develop quickly
from severe thunderstorms. If you spot a tornado go at once into the
basement or small central room in a sturdy structure.
This is a DANGEROUS SITUATION. These storms are producing widespread
wind damage across the Glacial Lakes region. SEEK SHELTER NOW inside
a sturdy structure and stay away from windows.
To report severe weather contact your nearest law enforcement agency.
They will send your report to the National Weather Service office in
Aberdeen.
Intense thunderstorm lines can produce brief tornadoes and widespread
significant wind damage. Although a tornado is not immediately
likely, it is best to move to an interior room on the lowest floor of
a building. These storms may cause serious injury and significant
property damage.
