...The Flood Warning continues for the following rivers in
Minnesota...
South Kawishiwi River near Ely affecting northwestern Lake County.
.High water continues on the Kawishiwi River due to the effects of
heavy rain and snowmelt last week. Expect high, fast moving water
through the Kawishiwi River, Isabella River, and Basswood River.
Lake levels across the Boundary Waters Wilderness Area will be high.
* WHAT...Minor flooding is occurring and remains forecast.
* WHERE...South Kawishiwi River near Ely.
* WHEN...Until early Thursday afternoon.
* IMPACTS...At 6.5 feet, Flood waters encroach on the lowest BWCA
Campsites. Swift water currents may be a hazard to
recreationalists.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 10:30 AM CDT Tuesday the stage was 6.5 feet.
- Bankfull stage is 5.5 feet.
- Recent Activity...The maximum river stage in the 24 hours
ending at 10:30 AM CDT Tuesday was 6.7 feet.
- Forecast...The river is expected to fall below flood stage
tomorrow morning and continue falling and remain below flood
stage.
- Flood stage is 6.5 feet.
- Flood History...This river stage compares to the river stage
from a previous crest of 6.6 feet on 06/24/2024.

Instruction:
Report observed flooding to local emergency services or law
enforcement and to the National Weather Service in Duluth when you
can do so safely. Flooding can be reported to the National Weather
Service at 1-800-685-8612.
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
Caution is urged when walking near riverbanks.
