Special Weather Statement
Urgency:
Expected
Effective:
May 30, 2026 - 2:22am
Expires:
May 30, 2026 - 4:00pm
Description:
The combination of drying fuels, low relative humidity values, and gusty winds will result in elevated fire danger conditions across northern lower Michigan today. East winds between 5-10 mph will gust to 15-20 mph at times through this afternoon. Relative humidity values between 20-30 percent are expected across parts of interior northern Michigan with the potential for localized minimum relative humidity readings in the teens. These conditions support the quick start and spread of wildfires, so be sure to take the proper precautions to prevent fires from starting.
