Major flooding continues on the Muskegon River, with minor to moderate flooding on certain sections of the Grand River and other smaller rivers. One final round of rain moves through late tonight and adds an additional one-half inch or so of rain to most areas. * WHAT...Major flooding is occurring and major flooding is forecast. This approaches the flood of record. * WHERE...Muskegon River at Newaygo. * WHEN...Until further notice. * IMPACTS...At 15.0 feet, Expect the Bridge Street Bridge in the City of Newaygo to be closed. Expect major flooding downstream from the City of Newaygo in the areas of Anderson Flats and Old Women's Bend in Garfield Township and Sycamore Flats, 100th Ave, and Sugarbush Lane in Ashland Township. Expect moderate flooding on Sarrell Street in the City of Newaygo. Expect Flech Ave near the Anderson Flats area to be closed. Expect all public River Access Sites to be closed. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 9:45 AM EDT Friday the stage was 17.1 feet. - Bankfull stage is 10.0 feet. - Recent Activity...The maximum river stage in the 24 hours ending at 9:45 AM EDT Friday was 17.1 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 17.9 feet early tomorrow afternoon. - Flood stage is 11.0 feet. - Flood History...This crest compares to a previous crest of 19.5 feet on 09/12/1986. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood
