...The National Weather Service in Marquette MI has issued a Flood Warning for the following rivers in Michigan... Chocolay River near Harvey affecting Marquette County. .Warming temperatures will accelerate snowmelt this week. Heavy rainfall could be seen at times this week, which may result in rivers rising above the current forecast. * WHAT...Minor flooding is forecast. * WHERE...Chocolay River near Harvey. * WHEN...From late tonight to Thursday evening. * IMPACTS...At 9.0 feet, Water begins to inundate the parking lot where M-28 crosses the Chocolay River...as well as low lying areas along Timber Lane and towards the mouth of the river At 10.0 feet, Water inundates the entire parking lot at the M-28 bridge...and the fishing pier begins to be submerged. Water inundates low lying areas along Timber Lane and Riverside Road downstream of the river gauge site At 11.5 feet, The fishing pier and parking lot near the M-28 bridge will be under water. Timber Lane and Riverside Road may be closed. Homes along Timber Lane...and some along Riverside Road...will experience extensive flooding At 12.0 feet, Homes in low-lying areas along Riverside Road and homes in the 200 block of Timber Lane will be inundated. Backwater effects near the mouth of the river may impact homes on Motel Drive * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 6:00 AM EDT Monday the stage was 8.9 feet. - Bankfull stage is 9.0 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to rise above flood stage just after midnight tonight to a crest of 10.3 feet tomorrow evening. It will then fall below flood stage Wednesday evening. - Flood stage is 10.0 feet. - Flood History...No available flood history. - www.weather.gov/safety/flood
