Description:
At 1205 AM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking a cluster of strong
thunderstorms capable of producing waterspouts over marine areas 9
miles southeast of Cocodrie, or 22 miles southwest of Galliano,
moving northeast at 20 mph.
HAZARD...Waterspouts, wind gusts up to 50 mph, and pea size hail.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Waterspouts can easily overturn boats and create locally
hazardous waters. Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs
and blow around unsecured objects. Minor damage to outdoor
objects is possible.
Locations impacted include...
Houma, Galliano, Golden Meadow, Chauvin, Dulac, Montegut, Leeville,
Cocodrie, Bayou Cane, Tambour Bay Buoy, and Lumcon Center Buoy.
Instruction:
If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building.
Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with these storms.
Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe
shelter inside a building or vehicle.
