Description:
At 1055 AM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along
a line extending from near Timber Trails to near Poland to near
Cheneyville. Movement was northeast at 50 mph.
HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 40 mph.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
unsecured objects.
Locations impacted include...
Alexandria, Pineville, Marksville, Bunkie, Moreauville, Cheneyville,
Alexandria International Airport, Effie, Ball, Cottonport, Mansura,
Lecompte, Hessmer, Tioga, Timber Trails, Esler Regional Airport,
Kingsville, Poland, Kolin, and Ruby.
This includes Interstate 49 between mile markers 52 and 62, and
between mile markers 73 and 93.
Instruction:
If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building.
Torrential rainfall is also occurring with these storms and may lead
to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded
roadways.
A Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains in effect until 600 PM CDT for
central Louisiana.
