Description: 
At 636 PM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking a cluster of strong thunderstorms near Madisonville, or near Mandeville, moving east at 15 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 50 mph and nickel size hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor damage to outdoor objects is possible. Locations impacted include... Mandeville, Covington, Madisonville, Lacombe, and W Lk Pontchartrain Buoy. This includes the following Interstates... Interstate 12 between mile markers 60 and 72. Interstate 55 in Louisiana between mile markers 17 and 19.

Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with these storms. Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe shelter inside a building or vehicle. To report severe weather, contact your nearest law enforcement agency. They will relay your report to the National Weather Service office in New Orleans.
