Description: 
At 520 PM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking a cluster of strong thunderstorms along a line extending from near Ponchatoula to near French Settlement. Movement was east at 10 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts of 50 to 55 mph and half inch hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor damage to outdoor objects is possible. Locations impacted include... Ponchatoula, French Settlement, Port Vincent, Springfield, Whitehall, and Killian. This includes Interstate 55 in Louisiana between mile markers 17 and 26.
Instruction: 
If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. These storms may intensify, so be certain to monitor local radio stations and available television stations for additional information and possible warnings from the National Weather Service. If on or near marine areas, get out of the water and move indoors or inside a vehicle. Remember, lightning can strike out to 10 miles from the parent thunderstorm. If you can hear thunder, you are close enough to be struck by lightning. Move to safe shelter now! Do not be caught on the water in a thunderstorm.
