At 158 PM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm over Evangeline, or near Mermentau, moving northeast at 20 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts of 50 to 55 mph and pea size hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is possible. Locations impacted include... Crowley, Eunice, Jennings, Church Point, Welsh, Iota, Mermentau, Evangeline, Cankton, Mowata, Maxie, Mire, Savoy, Egan, Branch, Richard, Estherwood, Roanoke, and Midland.
Instruction: 
If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm. Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe shelter inside a building or vehicle. This storm may intensify, so be certain to monitor local radio stations and available television stations for additional information and possible warnings from the National Weather Service.
