Description: 
At 143 AM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking a cluster of strong thunderstorms capable of producing waterspouts over marine areas near Lake Catherine, or 8 miles east of New Orleans, moving north at 20 mph. HAZARD...Waterspouts and wind gusts up to 50 mph. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Waterspouts can easily overturn boats and create locally hazardous waters. Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Locations impacted include... New Orleans, Slidell, Bay St. Louis, Waveland, Eden Isle, Diamondhead, East New Orleans, Pearl River, Lake Catherine, Kiln, Pearlington, Lacombe, Shoreline Park, Stennis Space Center, and Slidell Airport. This includes the following Interstates... Interstate 10 in Louisiana between mile markers 246 and 255, and between mile markers 259 and 273. Interstate 10 in Mississippi between mile markers 1 and 18. Interstate 12 between mile markers 74 and 84. Interstate 59 in Louisiana between mile markers 1 and 11. Interstate 510 between mile markers 1 and 3.

If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with these storms. Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe shelter inside a building or vehicle.
