Description: 
At 556 PM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking a cluster of strong thunderstorms along a line extending from near Bush to near French Settlement. Movement was east at 15 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 50 mph and penny size hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor damage to outdoor objects is possible. Locations impacted include... Hammond, Bogalusa, Mandeville, Picayune, Covington, Ponchatoula, Abita Springs, Livingston, French Settlement, Albany, Madisonville, Port Vincent, Folsom, Springfield, Sun, Prairieville, Natalbany, Robert, Bush, and Whitehall. This includes the following Interstates... Interstate 10 in Louisiana between mile markers 168 and 171. Interstate 12 between mile markers 21 and 71. Interstate 55 in Louisiana between mile markers 11 and 37. Interstate 59 in Mississippi between mile markers 4 and 13.

If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. Torrential rainfall is also occurring with these storms and may lead to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways. These storms may intensify, so be certain to monitor local radio stations and available television stations for additional information and possible warnings from the National Weather Service. To report severe weather, contact your nearest law enforcement agency. They will relay your report to the National Weather Service office in New Orleans.
