At 208 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm over Hi Hat, or 12 miles southwest of Pikeville, moving east-southeast at 30 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 40 mph and pea size hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is possible. Locations impacted include... Wheelwright, Wayland, East McDowell, Melvin, Dry Creek, Raven, Hi Hat, Kite, McDowell, Burton, Larkslane, Dorton, Beaver, Virgie, Buckhorn Hollow, Orkney, Myra, Demo, Ligon, and Topmost. THIS INCLUDES U.S. Highway 23 in Pike County between mile markers 1 and 4, and between mile markers 8 and 17.
