Description:
At 354 PM CDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line
extending from 8 miles southwest of Bronson to 5 miles northeast of
Altoona, moving east at 30 mph.
HAZARD...70 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail.
SOURCE...Trained weather spotters.
IMPACT...Hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect considerable
tree damage. Wind damage is also likely to mobile homes,
roofs, and outbuildings.
Locations impacted include...
Chanute, Humboldt, Erie, St. Paul, Moran, Thayer, Altoona, Buffalo,
Galesburg, Savonburg, Elsmore, Stark, Earlton, Petrolia, and Chanute
Airport.
Instruction:
Remain alert for a possible tornado! Tornadoes can develop quickly
from severe thunderstorms. If you spot a tornado go at once into the
basement or small central room in a sturdy structure.
For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a
building.
Torrential rainfall is occurring with these storms, and may lead to
flash flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.
