Description:
At 1130 PM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm near
Cherokee, or 7 miles south of Girard, moving east at 30 mph.
HAZARD...Wind gusts of 50 to 55 mph and nickel size hail.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is
possible.
Locations impacted include...
Pittsburg, Prairie State Park, Frontenac, Girard, Arma, Cherokee,
Weir, Mulberry, Scammon, Chicopee, Nashville, Mindenmines, Franklin,
Asbury, West Mineral, Roseland, Burgess, Beulah, Opolis, and
Croweburg.
Instruction:
If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building.
This storm may intensify, so be certain to monitor local radio
stations and available television stations for additional information
and possible warnings from the National Weather Service.
A Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains in effect until 400 AM CDT for
southeastern Kansas...and southwestern Missouri.
