Description:
At 737 PM MDT/837 PM CDT/, a wall of dust was along a line extending
from 6 miles northeast of St. Francis to 16 miles north of Goodland
to 4 miles north of Ruleton to 6 miles southwest of Kanorado, moving
east at 40 mph.
HAZARD...Less than one quarter mile visibility with strong wind in
excess of 40 mph.
SOURCE...Trained weather spotters reported 1/4 mile visibility 8
miles north-northeast of Hale, Colorado around 7:18 PM MT
IMPACT...Dangerous life-threatening travel.
This includes Interstate 70 in Kansas between mile markers 0 and 33.
Locations impacted include...
Goodland, St. Francis, Kanorado, Ruleton, Bird City, Edson, and
Wheeler.
Instruction:
Dust storms lead to dangerous driving conditions with visibility
reduced to near zero. If driving, avoid dust storms if possible. If
caught in one, then pull off the road, turn off your lights and keep
your foot off the brake.
Motorists should not drive into a dust storm. PULL ASIDE STAY ALIVE!
