Description:
At 1055 PM CDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line
extending from near Hancock to 5 miles northwest of Griswold to 2
miles north of Elliott to 6 miles north of Red Oak, moving northeast
at 30 mph.
HAZARD...Golf ball size hail and 70 mph wind gusts.
SOURCE...Weather Instrument Measurement. At 1054 PM CDT, a wind gust
of 69 MPH was reported 6 miles west of Macedonia.
IMPACT...People and animals outdoors will be injured. Expect hail
damage to roofs, siding, windows, and vehicles. Expect
considerable tree damage. Wind damage is also likely to
mobile homes, roofs, and outbuildings.
These severe thunderstorms will remain over mainly rural areas of
northwestern Montgomery, northeastern Mills and eastern Pottawattamie
Counties, including the following locations... Old Town Park, Botna
Bend Park, McClelland, Farm Creek Public Wildlife Area, and Weston.
This includes Interstate 80 in Iowa between mile markers 14 and 17,
and between mile markers 34 and 37.
Instruction:
For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a
building.
Torrential rainfall is occurring with these storms, and may lead to
flash flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.
