Description: 
At 842 PM CDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line extending from near New Virginia to 4 miles northwest of Van Wert to 4 miles southeast of Lamoni, moving east at 30 mph. HAZARD...70 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail. SOURCE...Lamoni Airport gusted to 70 mph at 837 PM. IMPACT...Hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect considerable tree damage. Wind damage is also likely to mobile homes, roofs, and outbuildings. Locations impacted include... Osceola, Chariton, Leon, Lamoni, Lakeside Casino, Humeston, New Virginia, Grand River, Van Wert, Lineville, Lucas, Garden Grove, Davis City, Woodburn, Decatur, Williamson, Weldon, Derby, Clio, and Pleasanton. This includes Interstate 35 between mile markers 2 and 44.

Remain alert for a possible tornado! Tornadoes can develop quickly from severe thunderstorms. If you spot a tornado go at once into the basement or small central room in a sturdy structure. For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building. Intense thunderstorm lines can produce brief tornadoes and widespread significant wind damage. Although a tornado is not immediately likely, it is best to move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building. These storms may cause serious injury and significant property damage.
