Description: 
At 449 PM CDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line extending from near Avoca to 2 miles northeast of Oakland to near Carson, moving east at 35 mph. HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts and half dollar size hail. SOURCE...Emergency management report of quarter sized hail 5 miles northwest of Oakland at 4:48 PM. IMPACT...Hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect wind damage to roofs, siding, and trees. Locations impacted include... Oakland, Avoca, Treynor, Carson, Walnut, Shelby, Minden, Macedonia, Hancock, Old Town Park, Prairie Rose State Park, Farm Creek Public Wildlife Area, Botna Bend Park, Nishna Bend Recreation Area, and Elk Horn Creek Recreation Area. This includes Interstate 80 in Iowa between mile markers 31 and 48.
Instruction: 
A Tornado Watch remains in effect until 700 PM CDT for southwestern Iowa. Prepare immediately for large hail and damaging winds. People outside should move to a shelter, inside a strong building and away from windows.
