Description:
At 411 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm was located 4 miles south of
Underwood, or 9 miles northeast of Council Bluffs, moving northeast
at 40 mph.
HAZARD...Ping pong ball size hail and 60 mph wind gusts.
SOURCE...Public reported quarter size hail 2 miles southeast of
Carter Lake with this storm.
IMPACT...People and animals outdoors will be injured. Expect hail
damage to roofs, siding, windows, and vehicles. Expect wind
damage to roofs, siding, and trees.
Locations impacted include...
Council Bluffs, Underwood, Neola, Minden, Council Bluffs Airport,
McClelland, Weston, and Arrowhead Park.
This includes the following highways...
Interstate 29 between mile markers 48 and 50.
Interstate 80 in Iowa between mile markers 3 and 23.
Instruction:
A Tornado Watch remains in effect until 700 PM CDT for southwestern
Iowa.
Prepare immediately for large hail and damaging winds. People outside
should move to a shelter, inside a strong building and away from
windows.
