Description: 
At 535 PM CDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line extending from Muscatine County Fairgrounds to near Letts, moving east at 50 mph. THESE ARE DESTRUCTIVE STORMS FOR West Liberty, Atalissa, and towards Wilton Iowa. HAZARD...80 mph wind gusts and nickel size hail. SOURCE...Trained weather spotters. IMPACT...Flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without shelter. Mobile homes will be heavily damaged. Expect considerable damage to roofs, windows, and vehicles. Extensive tree damage and power outages are likely. Locations impacted include... Iowa City, Muscatine, Tipton, West Branch, Columbus Junction, Durant, West Liberty, Wilton, Lone Tree, Riverside, Fruitland, Hills, Ainsworth, Grandview, Conesville, Bennett, Columbus City, Letts, Nichols, and Atalissa. This includes Interstate 80 in Iowa between mile markers 252 and 278.
Instruction: 
A Tornado Watch remains in effect until 800 PM CDT for northwestern Illinois...and southeastern and east central Iowa. Remain alert for a possible tornado! Tornadoes can develop quickly from severe thunderstorms. If you spot a tornado go at once into the basement or small central room in a sturdy structure. For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a sturdy building.
