Description:
A Flood Watch is in effect from 7 PM through 7 AM Saturday for
southern Iowa, as confidence is increasing in thunderstorms and
additional heavy rainfall tonight. This could lead to flooding, as
soil moisture percentiles are at or above the 70th percentile for
this time of year, which indicates soils predisposed to increased
runoff from additional heavy rain tonight.
* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is possible.
* WHERE...Portions of south central and southwest Iowa, including the
following counties, in south central Iowa, Appanoose, Clarke,
Decatur, Lucas, Ringgold, Union and Wayne. In southwest Iowa, Adams
and Taylor.
* WHEN...From 7 PM CDT this evening through Saturday morning.
* IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers,
creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- Soils are moist, and additional heavy rainfall is possible
overnight.
