Wapsipinicon River near De Witt 4S affecting Scott and Clinton
Counties.
.Additional rainfall during the first half of this week may prolong
this crest, or cause the river to rise again mid to late week.
* WHAT...Major flooding is occurring and major flooding is forecast.
* WHERE...Wapsipinicon River near De Witt 4S.
* WHEN...Until Thursday morning.
* IMPACTS...At 12.5 feet, Major Flood Stage. Water affects old U.S.
Highway 61 near the river.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 9:30 AM CDT Monday the stage was 12.5 feet and cresting.
- Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 12.6
feet this afternoon. It will then fall below flood stage
Wednesday night.
- Flood stage is 11.0 feet.
Instruction:
Caution is urged when walking near riverbanks.
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
Motorists should not attempt to drive around barricades or drive
cars through flooded areas.
The next statement will be issued by Tuesday morning at 1015 AM CDT.
