White River at Spencer and Newberry. ...The Flood Warning continues for the following rivers and locations in Indiana...Illinois... White River at Elliston, Edwardsport, Petersburg, and Hazleton. Wabash River at Mount Carmel. .Multiple rounds of heavy rainfall over the past few days has brought widespread minor lowland flooding along the middle and lower White River, which will flow downstream to bring minor flooding to the Wabash River at Mount Carmel. The crest on the White as of late Thursday evening is in the vicinity of Elliston and Newberry. Flooding on the lower White River is expected to last through at least next week. More rounds of rainfall going into and through the holiday weekend, mainly Friday and Friday night, could make the flooding last longer and bring higher crests for downriver points. Stay weather aware by keeping abreast of later forecasts. * WHAT...Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast. * WHERE...White River at Petersburg. * WHEN...Until further notice. * IMPACTS...At 23.5 feet, Water from the Great June 2008 Flood recedes from SR 257 south of Washington. The river stage at Shoals was less than 10 feet and less than 14 feet previous day. The Lost River was low...except for backwater from the East Fork White...during this entire flood event. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 9:45 PM EDT Thursday /8:45 PM CDT Thursday/ the stage was 21.1 feet. - Recent Activity...The maximum river stage in the 24 hours ending at 9:45 PM EDT Thursday /8:45 PM CDT Thursday/ was 21.1 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 23.3 feet Sunday morning. - Flood stage is 16.0 feet. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood
